kinda funny that the two honorable mentions at the top of the article are from devs notoriously hated on by trannies. well, to be precise, ghostty is created on a language that was passed around on /g/ a couple years ago because the guy who made it was hailed as based and redpilled, so i guess it wasn't the developer of ghostty. kitty is made by kovid goyal, the guy who made calibre, and who catches shit from sensitive fags who feel like they're messianic figures for submitting bugs to projects, so you'd better kowtow to them or they will complain about you on hn.
it's funny to see these corporate zombie hall monitors try to treat projects like calibre the same way they treat their professional projects, and i love reading about kovid dismissing them. he's not even hostile or shitty, just direct and short, and people react to him. i also like that he doesn't acquiesce to the demand that he use some wrapper or tool that debian or ubuntu provides, thus locking him in to some pointless dependency. put a big warning on the plugins download that a plugin could be malicious and get root access to your computer, and if you install it you're an idiot.
the hall monitor types want to distill all of the personality and passion and mistakes and progress out of software development, which is important in some ways, but for personal projects it's mostly irrelevant. users should be able to accept risk, and hackers should be able to hack.
it's insane how the professionals conflate their processes with open source. gyrate dot org should start an anonymous source repository that uses the same commenting system and anonymization of commit history. i'm sick of corporate morons kneecapping the fun of programming and stuff.
All I want is a place to talk shit and be toxic in peace without the whiniest losers on earth threatening to ban me! I think I'm getting close to a decent foundation here. I just need more time to work on it...
