is tetris for jonas going to be there?

whoever handles their publicity or whatever sucks. they're notoriously bad about making it easy to find information. ctwc twitch. the grand finals are sunday at 10pst, but the entire event is fun to watch.

around 6 years ago it was relatively rare to see a 'max out' (999,999 score) at one of these competitions, due to input frequency limits on nes controllers. most of the players were like 30+ regular dudes. a high school kid beat the reigning champ and injected some life into the scene, and the kids started taking over. a couple years into the renaissance, some kid came up with a method called 'rolling', where you drum your fingers along the back of the controller to push the buttons up against your button fingers, and forever changed the game. now the players all look like they were given puberty blockers and full vaccine regimens in the womb. they regularly play beyond the 'kill screen' (the level at which the blocks drop so fast it's nearly impossible to score a single line if you aren't rolling), and score millions of points.

there are some real freaks, too, so it can be unintentionally funny.
