I kept a backup of the database for years, but I guess I lost it somehow. And I want to use that slogan for the description of a managed tag eventually. What should we call it? I can't decide whether it would be better to have generic tag names like music and tech or fun ones like noise and dorksidedstuff.

i think letting tags rise and fall with the times memetically is more fun than having a bunch of curated tags, but idk if i get what you're asking. maybe a cached list of popular tags as suggestions could be fun, since it could be gamed by people posting retarded tags to make the suggestions stupid. 🤷
The problem with 100% community tags is that it makes it impossible to find or organize anything. That's why I was planning on having a handful of "official" (managed) tags, while allowing people to have fun with the community ones on the side. Then we can watch the community tags to see which ones we might want to convert to managed as topics get more popular.
i agree with you, and i think it's a good candidate for throwing spaghetti at the wall. pick some managed tags that represent the personality of the site as you envision it, and sub them in/out as your vision is refined, like a benevolent dictator guiding an empire. managed tags + suggested recent popular user tags would be a fun way to keep things taxonomically viable but also add some chaotic stress/pseudorandomness to invite opportunity for change/evolution/whatever.
