good luck have fun don't die - an official gyrate dot org movie review etctexthitlermoviesofficialgyratedotorgmoviereview

tl;dr good luck have fun don't die is a quirk chungus consumer slopfest that is good mindless retarded fun with a few funny moments for the first half, then totally loses direction and leans hard into soygape generating ssri-appeasing humor with confetti cumming cat centaurs and Holy Hecking Fuckballs zany moments decorated liberally with So That Just Happened-tier dialog.

the elements presented as satire are vapid and insubstantial, indicating the critic's detachment from the satirical subjects, meaning that the person who came up with this shit is depicting flanderizations based on caricatures, rather than primary knowledge from direct experience that includes any empathy. the satirical aspects of the movie are like the results of a telephone game of people whispering about how rich moms are bad and kids use their phones a lot. yeah, rich moms can be oblivious dumb cunts and kids are fucking retards, but the presentation of those ideas is naive and over the top, and by the time the movie's strongly telegraphed twist is overtly exposition-dumped the satire is exposed for what it is: cultural branding on a nascar jacket for wannabe rebels who actually prop up the consumer culture they're criticizing.

it also has not one, but two Oh My Frick They Said the Thing moments where the movie title is announced by a character. i give this movie 0 likes and 3 gyrate dot org movie points out of 10 gyrate dot org movie points, because, despite the 60iq pandering and Le Ebin Spork humor, there were some funny parts, there were no black people main characters, and the only interracial relationship depicted was between a mexican midget and his some-kind-of-indian-or-some-other-brown-person romantic partner. it's not that i mind a black person main character or interracial relationships, but i'm just surprised that, given all the other pop culture boxes this dumb ass movie ticked, it avoided being overtly political or culturally subversive.

in general the dumbfuck message of the movie is inoffensively positive until it's abandoned for the lulz, and if you really want to pretend to give a fuck you can say something about how it's a kafkaesque adventure of adavasthian proportions, but, ultimately, it's just lazy, stupid, shitty, uninspired, small-minded regurgitation of things that have been presented much more engagingly, endearigly, and interestingly by other media throughout all of recorded human history. that's not to say that it being derivative is inherently bad; being derivative is fine and it's nice to have familiar themes and ideas and structures and stuff like that. it's more to say that it's a shitty lazy derivation of tragic human irony and existential confusion that doesn't really handle its subjects so much as presents them as if checking off boxes to demonstrate fulfilled requirements.
