I've been thinking about this for months, and I'm starting to lean towards likes instead of upvotes and downvotes. I was originally thinking I could give upvotes and downvotes different weights to make downvotes essentially worth nothing, but likes alone would make a bunch of things simpler. I also hate the annoying "downvote" people. Every time I hear the word "downvote," I picture a sniveling dork saying "I'm going to downvote you" in a high-pitched voice like Steve Urkel, and it makes me want to strangle them.
