i've had a macbook from a client that i've used, and it's okay, but having to use homebrew and postgres.app for stuff is annoying compared to linux. i'm going to try the new macbook on my dock if it's compatible & see how macos behaves with multiple monitors. if it's anything like the xfce/windows experience, i may just switch to it for work & use my "portable desktop" for media/gaming away from my gamer desktop.

homebrew is great! you need to make a brewfile with all the stuff you like to have installed and keep it in a git repo with all your dotfiles. then whenever you get a new computer, just run brew bundle to install everything. you can also keep a lot of your macos preferences in git with the defaults command. you might also try https://www.pgadmin.org/
