in theory it's a solution, which is fine, but in practice it creates dependencies on services that creates extra stupid specialized work for everything. i get the idea of centralizing on top of these services to abstract the work away from individual projects to an authoritative source (which i guess in this case would be multiple sources), so it really just compounds the issue by creating an rfc that services on top of services have to adhere to. it's a chasing your tail kind of problem. in 10 years this guy will be proposing a service to query the services that query the services.

i think sometimes users just have to suffer and upload an image. fuck trying to accommodate convenience in that scenario. the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
