Nothing Important

If anyone still comes to this stupid site, they’ll notice that I decided to install Ryan Duff’s contact form and Michael Martine’s Saphire theme. I was never really happy with the the old Gyrator theme, because it never worked 100% with Wordpress. This one is pretty good, but I’m still hoping to eventually find something geared more towards geeks like me who want to post the occasional code snippit.

So I have a bit of a problem. Actually, it’s been a problem for a few years now, but it’s only recently gotten worse. The problem, ironically, is that too many people know about this site. It’s not so much the random “Internet” people I’m concerned about, but rather, certain people in my personal life. I’m sure this is a common complaint from “bloggers,” but sometimes I miss being able to write anonymously. Maybe it’s time for a top-secret new website?

I can’t help but feel that gyrate.org has lost everything I ever liked about it, the custom CMS, gyrator, MVC, etc was an inspiration to me, as well as the innovation that no other site had. It was all home grown. I used it as a basis for my own experiments with PHP, and it pretty much shaped my past, and current career (except i’ve moved from php onto enterprise java).

Now it’s just a wordpress blog, with a theme. It’s saddenning in fact. It’s like when a nice country pub becomes part of some stupid chain and serves the same bland food as everybody else. There is no creativity, no innovation.

This isn’t intended as an insult, it’s just an observation.

as i mentioned in my first post, im incredibly bored with php these days, and custom cms software is pretty much a “been there, done that” sort of thing for me. ive also grown to hate html/css, because it’s such a pain in the ass to deal with.

all my creativity comes out at work now, but of course, nobody here gets to see that. maybe you should come work for us. hehe…
